It's Tuesday and I have a basic layout done for my CSS page, but some some things still aren't working right (plus, I think I'm reading more into the assignment than necessary, but it's good experience and that's what it's all about). I've gone back and looked at the margins/padding material in Wyke-Smith (Chapter 4) and learned some things I missed the first time through. Hopefully this will help me solve my layout problem. One thing I'm noticing is that things are displaying differently in Dreamweaver's design page than on the browser....anyone else have that problem?
I haven't begun my home page yet, but this should be simpler after doing the CSS page assignment. Despite what I said last week about Wyke-Smith's book, I'm now finding some value in it.
No comments on the readings yet. Hope to dive into those tomorrow night.....
Jeff,
So the trick to getting your image and text to display next to each other in the header is to create a box around everything("wrapper" from class), then have the header, and create another inside the header for your image. Just make sure that when you specify the size of the "wrapper" in CSS that you adjust the size of the image and header boxes so their sum equals the size of the wrapper. (i.e. your wrapper is set to 740px in width...width of your header+width of your image=740px) Also, once you create the wrapper, that will solve the problem of having things display differently in Dreamweaver than they do in the browser. I discovered that happens because Dreamweaver assumes a 1400px width for the window, but depending on the size of your browser window, it will squish or seperate the elements.
Let me know if you run into any more problems when you are working with the page tonight. I'll make sure to check my blog frequently. I hope this helps!

Jeff
Here is how far behind I am. Last night after deciding that my portfolio page was not quite up to snuff...I went back and tried to download a Stylemaster template into DW and then work from there. It was going quite well and I was designing away until waaalaaa I realized I was creating all this wonderful design in HTML (where or where is the CSS?) So I need a tutor at my side 24-7! We will break thru this wall...hopefully by May 7! Jerry

Jerry,
SORRY to here about your troubles. I'm right there with you. Just when you think you have it down, viola! You don't. I took the day off to finish my CSS assighment and still need to do my home page. Don't get frustrated. Like you said, we'll get through this.
