As I was reading through this chapter, I think this is a theme of capitalism because it shows how people became more materialistic, how the economy started growing, how the government and politicians were looking for the different ways to be wealthy and how to create a strong financial source to develop the economy and expand the land.

After reading through chapter 9, commercialism would be the best theme because during that era transportation improved such as increased in farm income, nevertheless this brought about a huge Migration where people moved from place to settle. People like Henry Clay took action on promoting economic development and making the country self dependant and free from European's concepts. Finally, during this time Republicans came on power where as the Federalist diminished meanwhile some of their policies were taken by the Republicans.

After reading Chapter 9, I see where there is never enough. The country is constantly growing. The Americans were inventing more was to prosper and were very creative. In short, making this country richer and more independent. Cities were growing and businesses were popping up all over. More competitive in farming and industrial business.

After reading chapter 9. A theme that I could call this chapter is Transitioning America from colonial to industrial. With settlers coming here claiming to discover America. Overall they never really discover anything beacuse it all was here in the first place. As time progressed and people colonize thereself here, and a form of government was establish but they still need to make a living. As we all know that when it comes to money we all would like to get a piece of the pie. So as the Northerners was able to come up ways to move products down South. It would have been harder for southerners to move products up North. As individuals(merchants, entrepreneurs, etc.) noticed the challenges and the advantages that could come from trying to move products from one place to another. They needed help to try to build. But thanks to early government structure the government could not do this unless it was overall decided by the states to build roads for faster transportation.

Through chapter 9,I will say after being freed from great Britain, the Americans are now still struggling to find the right way to establish governance, economic stragety and involvement of all the classes of the society to participate in the building of the new nation. So for me this chapter's theme could be "Together to move forward without frustrating anybody".

Chapter 9
The main theme of this chapter focusses alot on the efforts made in trying to develope america. Mostly by trying to build roads to improve transportation. Also another consern of the people was trying to preserve the republican virtue and self sacrifice in this fast developing country. With geographic expansions, economic growth and changes in america offcourse came political contraversy between the south and north or even between the diffrent people like that farmers, merchants, manufacturers...etc.

It seemed to me that chapter nine was primarily concerned with expansion and a national sense of optimism much like the one that followed world war two.

After reading the chapter, I took away from it that American were greedy bullies, who felt that they were superior to others. No matter how much the Indians tried to become "civilized" it still wasn't enough for whites.
